By creating an account or using Fable, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

1. What Fable is — and is not

Fable helps groups chat, split expenses, and track who owes whom, with trip-companion features. Fable is not a bank, wallet, payment processor, or money-transmission service. We never hold, move, or process money.

• Balances and "settlements" are records you and your group create about money moved outside the app (e.g. via your own UPI/bank app).
• Payment handles you add (UPI IDs, bank details) are shown to your group so they can pay you directly; Fable does not initiate or guarantee any transfer.
• We are not responsible for real-world payments, their accuracy, success, reversals, disputes, or any amounts owed between users. Splits, amounts, and settlements are your responsibility to verify.

2. Your account

• You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure.
• You're responsible for activity on your account.
• You must be at least [13 / 16 / 18] years old (and old enough to form a binding contract where you live).
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or the law.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Post unlawful, harassing, hateful, infringing, or harmful content.
• Spam, defraud, impersonate, or abuse other users.
• Attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the service.
• Misuse the scan or media features to upload content you don't have rights to.

We provide report and block tools. We may remove content or restrict accounts that breach these rules. You are responsible for the content you share.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you create. You grant Fable a limited license to host, process, and display it solely to operate the service for you and the groups you share it with (including on-device or AI-assisted scanning when you use it — see the Privacy Policy). You're responsible for having the rights to what you upload.

5. Third-party services

Fable relies on third-party providers (authentication, storage, notifications, AI scanning, analytics — see the Privacy Policy). Your use may also be subject to their terms. We're not responsible for third-party services.

6. Availability & changes

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time, and we don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We may update these Terms; we'll revise the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you in-app.

7. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fable and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any money owed, transferred, or lost between users. Our total liability for any claim is limited to [the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months / INR 1,000], whichever is greater where required by law.

8. Termination

You may stop using Fable and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete account in the app). We may terminate or suspend access for violations or legal reasons.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION, e.g. India], and disputes are subject to the courts of [CITY / JURISDICTION], except where applicable law provides otherwise.
